So you’ve got a new vape pen and are wondering how to clean it? Fear not, our guide will help you along the way on every step.
Vapes come in different shapes and sizes, but there are mainly 3 main parts to every vape.
1- The Tank
The tank refers to the chamber where you put your oil/herb. Depending on your model/type its size can vary from 1ml to 10ml and can be compatible with e liquids or organic hemp cbd vape cartridge and even concentrates. Tanks are usually the most gunked up part of the vape as they contain your oil/herb/concentrates and are subjected to heat regularly. In case you end up finding cracks or dents in your tank during the cleaning process, then ensure the structural integrity of your tank. Another butter fingers incident and your tank might just burst out of nowhere.
Cleaning the tank
1- Detach your tank and disassemble it
2- Get some non flavored vodka and some cotton swabs
3- Dip your swab in the vodka and clean deposits from your tank parts by scrubbing
4- Soak parts in warm water for 10 mins
5- Wash, Rinse and Air Dry for 20 mins
6- Reassemble
2- The coil
The coil is the heating element of your vape pen, made up of a highly resistive metal. The strength of vape coils is measured in ohms. Most vape coils range between 0.1ohms to 0.4ohms, and depending on the manufacturer, they can be made from various metals including Stainless Steel, NiChrome and even Titanium. Coils are the most replaceable part of a vape pen. Somewhere down the line, you are going to have to change your vape coil, and if you find burn marks on it already, it might be a good idea to order a replacement beforehand. Degraded and faulty vape coils are a big danger as they can cause short circuits and in rare cases, fire too.
Cleaning the coil
1- Detach coil from the main body
2- Use a non-fibrous cloth to clean any debris/marks
3- Dip a cotton swab in isopropyl alcohol and clean the sides of your coil
4- Air Dry for 20 mins
5- Wipe and reassemble
3- The battery compartment
The battery compartment is usually at the bottom and houses the main circuitry and battery of your vape pen. Depending on your model and make, your battery could be removable allowing you internal access to your device for further cleaning. If your battery looks bloated or puffed up, you should stop using your vape immediately and get a replacement asap.
Cleaning the Battery Compartment
1- Remove the battery (If removable)
2- Use non-fibrous cloth to scrub the top part in contact with the atomizer
3- Dislodge debris and wipe the corners using a cotton swab
4- Reassemble
Note: If desperately needed, use a lightly dampened cotton swab in vodka to clean the gunk
